Adonit

I recently bought a $90 stylus from Adonit (http://adonit.net/jot/touch/). Adonit is a Kickstarted (i.e. originated from a crowd funding project) 3 year old company that pivoted from making wireless iPad keyboards to high-end styluses. What is absolutely interesting is that I bought their product over those of traditional industry leaders such as Watcom (and FYI, I own a Watcom Bamboo stylus and did a good 3 hour research before I made my purchase, so it was a pretty informed decision)

Historically, it has been a rarity to see underdogs build superior products than those of giants, but my feeling is that it is happening more often b/c the traditional barriers to prototyping and financing is crumbling down due to 3D printing, crowd funding, and such. Another point worth noting is that my current iPad drawing app of choice is Procreate(http://procreate.si/), and if you listen to the story behind this product(http://vimeo.com/28263151) it was created by underdogs as well.
